I hope they nerf the 55 monk instead of nerfing drops... wouldnt that be a better solution?

Ladies and gentlemen let the BP parade begin. I will cry when districts are flooded with Barrage/Pet groups... it will be a sad sad day. For this reason I suggest we turn barrage into this:

Barrage (15 energy)
~ You fire 2-6 arrows at foes near your target, including your target. If you use this skill in PvP you automatically lose. All minions die instantly and your team is scewed and burned by the enemy.
Recharge of 20 seconds. Takes eight skills slots to wield.

nerfing B/P, if it ever comes to that, i simple .. make it so pets dont hold agro, thats the part thats needs to be nerfed, not the barrage skill

Or else it would have made almost every encounter trivial if the group included a W/Rt chaincasting ashes. Imagine the start of an FA run (the most dangerous part for most teams) if the tank carried ashes from the start. Ho hum *boring*.

I think that it was probably that they had no choice -- they either had to
a) redesign one of the major attribute lines of their new class, the Ritualist, which, btw, is coming out in less than a week, (NOT AN OPTION) or
b) let everyone "gear trick" their way through the ENTIRE game with a Wa/Rt stance tank, (NOT AN OPTION) or
c) fix it, which they should've done IN THE FIRST FRIGGIN PLACE.

They apparently chose C, but it took them painting themselves into a corner to force them to fix it.

I completely agree with A and B, but C has some arguements against it.
First of all, when they released prophecies, making the AI go striaght towards the "gear holder" made sense. Refering to my post abou CTF, it makes sense to get back that one extremely special thing that you need. I do not believe ANet had an idea that they would have skills that created their own gear. While this exploit did need to be fixed, there was no inherent rush, it just needed to be done before factions was released. Their choice of timing was fine.

If they nerf 55s, great, I won't complain for sure. They may have already, according to the rumors of salvagable ectos.

As to the person who disagree with people thinking you shouldn't play a certain way, I have this to say. While a noble point to make, in this case it's not very defensible since the gear trick in SF practically limited you to one of 5 choices, Bonder, Healer, Stance Tank, SS, MM. Talk about limited gameplay options.

It's all well and good to SAY people should be allowed to play as they like. However in all practicallity, it's a very bad idea. If left to their own devices people naturally find the easy way out, the cheats and exploits. A human without control will rarely hesitate to ride on the coattails of others, and climb over the bodies of the fallen to get what they want.

So, it is a nessessary evil that when an "unfair" style of play emerges it needs to be controled in some manner.

Its funny to see how some people think that removal of book/keg trick works against class discrimination... I think it works exactly opposite way. Soon even SF will be restricted to b/p groups only. And it is not because other classes can not survive some damage or fail at dealing it, it is because they are way more sensitive to interrupts/hexes/edenial. And elementalists are at the bottom of this pit of misery.
If ANet doesnt like farming so much, they shouldve put 3 seconds recharge on barrage, scattering effect on ss and "other ally" on prot spirit, but noooo... they just had to make everything even worse than it used to be. GJ ANet, lets all go solo stuff, because playing with pugs apparently just became impossible.

Meh. I'm willing to bet that it was, as you say, a piece of CTF AI coding for the PVP world that had an unforeseen effect in the PVE world. I'm even willing to go along with the supposition that other things took proirity. But I won't agree that it should have taken a YEAR, and, more importantly, a new, even more abusable class combo from an expansion, to fix.

And finally I might be able to actually play the FoW, and maybe complete The Wailing Lord quest -- which I've never gotten to do because everyone wanted to do the book trick.

Skills using warriors, rejoice!

There real trick to a B/P group was the MM that created an army off the dead pets. Well That got whacked HARD so a B/P group will be much less effective. Barrage is elite and proivdes good area damage. Its a pretty solid skill. The MM nerf will greatly change the B/P farming of SF, Tombs and where ever else.

They fixed an AI flaw that was being exploited and it's about time they did. Just made that 5 man farm a whole lot harder. Keep up the good work anet. Maybe people will actually start playing the game rather than spend all their time farming and making game life harder for those that don't.
